How General Electric Began
General Electric was formed as a result of a merger between Edison General Electric and Thomson-Houston Company in 1892. General Electric formed an industrial research laboratory, a place where the company went on to produce one of the lines of electrical consumer goods that branded as General Electric and Hotpoint appliance brands.
